Warning for Motorists: Watch Out for Motorcycles

All across the country, motorcycle owners are shining up their Harleys and getting them ready to ride. It is an exciting time of year for them. However, it is important for all other motorists to remember to exercise increased caution as you’re traveling the roads and highways of St. Louis.

According to an article on the KSDK.com website, there has already been a motorcycle accident in south St. Louis. While the article doesn’t provide a great deal of information, it states that the accident occurred in the evening, and that one person was taken to an area hospital in critical condition.

Tips for Motorists

As your St. Louis personal injury attorney, we would like to offer a few tips to help you stay safe on our roadways this spring and summer.

  • Check your mirror twice for motorcycles before changing lanes.
  • Exercise caution when turning if your vision is obstructed by a larger vehicle, such as a tractor trailer.
  • Do not drive aggressively when you see a motorcyclist weaving in and out of traffic.
  • Maintain a safe distance from motorcycles; about the same amount of space you give to other vehicles

In the event of an accident, be sure to obtain immediate medical attention, as well as a police report that documents everything. Afterwards, contact a St. Louis motorcycle injury attorney to be sure your rights are protected.
