Two Adults Charged with a Felony in Underage Driver Accident

A fifteen year old driver with a learner’s permit caused an accident May 8.  The two adults who allowed her to drive were charged in Mid-December with felonies on four counts of endangering the welfare of a child.  According to a story posted in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch on December 13, 2012 the adults were in another car that they drove to Jefferson City to get and allowed the teenager to drive one of the cars back. At some point during the accident the car overturned and one of the passengers, a young child, was taken by helicopter to a hospital.

A learner’s permit is not a valid license to operate a vehicle alone and this 15 year old should never have been behind the wheel without adult supervision. Negligence of this sort is unpardonable -driving can be hazardous enough without the gross misconduct of placing completely inexperienced operators on the road.

Anyone who has been injured by any careless driver, inexperienced or otherwise, should contact the experienced St. Louis auto accident attorneys at Hoffman & Gelfman immediately.  Our experts are ready to discuss your injuries and the circumstances of the accident and will provide you with the information you need to pursue your claim.  Visit our website and schedule and appointment today so our experienced litigators can help you fight for the compensation you are entitled to.
