Trek, GT and Giant Bicycles Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission along with bicycle brands Giant, GT and Trek announced a recall of the bicycles listed below that are equipped with the SR Suntour Suspension Forks.  Owners of these bicycles should stop using these bicycles immediately unless otherwise instructed.

The suspension fork, manufactured by SR Suntour, of Taiwan and Vancouver, Wash,  has  internal support tubes that can break and cause the rider to lose control, fall and crash.   There have already been reports of injuries associated with this product.

Bicycles in this recall are the Giant Revel 1  &  Revel 1W, manufactured in 2011-2012, the GT Avalanche 4.0 & Avalanche 4.0GTW, manufactured in 2012, and the Trek 3700D & Trek 3900D with suspension fork codes CK110301 through CK110731.

These Trek bicycles, GT bicycles and Giant bicycles were sold nationwide from April 2011 through March 2012, ranged between $400 and $600 and were manufactured in China.

If you own one of these bicycles or are unsure, stop using it and contact an authorized GT, Giant or Trek dealer for a free repair.
