No End of the Season Glory for One Football Player

A Dallas Cowboy football player from St. Louis, Josh Brent, has been charged with the death of another player on his team in Texas for intoxication manslaughter. Brent was admittedly driving while impaired when the accident occurred. The deceased, Jerry Brown, was described by Josh Brent as his best friend and was also from the St. Louis area. The two were coming home from a night out together when Brown lost control of his car after hitting a curb.

The St. Louis Post- Dispatch reported that Jerry Brown had just tweeted the day before the accident that he and his girlfriend are expecting a baby. This unfortunate occurrence will be hard on both families and now there is the unborn member of the family who needs to be cared for without the help of a father going forward.  The team may step in with some help, as has happened in similar cases, but not everyone in this situation is fortunate enough to get assistance after losing a loved one to another’s negligence.

At Hoffman & Gelfman we have represented many who have been injured or lost a family member to a wrongful death in a car accident.
