Judge Approves $3,000,000 Wrongful Death Settlement

The Kansas City Star reported on June 11, 2012 that a Missouri judge has approved a $3,000,000 settlement in a wrongful death lawsuit brought in Jackson County. The parents of the victim were the recipients of the reward. Their son who had been diagnosed as schizophrenic was shot at a gas station convenience store by a clerk.  Following the shooting the clerk fled the scene and returned to India, his original home in 2010.

The settlement was derived from three sources, the Lakhani Commercial corp., Sunshine Energy LLC and Shell Oil Company. All three entities had denied legal responsibility for the tragedy.

There are many sad incidents like this in our state and throughout the country involving patrons and employees that can lead to injury or wrongful death.
