Faulty Elevator Seriously Injures Sheriff’s Deputy and Others

Elevators serve a great purpose because they make life quite convenient for us in tall buildings. However, that doesn’t mean they’re foolproof. According to a CBS News article, an elevator in a Philadelphia building had problems for years, and recently caused one man to become seriously injured.

People stated that the elevator, which is located in the Criminal Justice Center, was known to have problems for years. Most recently, a Sheriff’s Deputy was in the elevator when it suddenly shot upwards through the top level of the building. At the time of the article, the Deputy was in an induced coma because of the swelling in his brain. He was said to be in critical condition.

Ironically, the Deputy’s wife was also injured in an elevator in the same building. In her case the elevator dropped, and resulted in her breaking her ankle. There have been similar cases of other CJC employees reporting injuries over the years.
